FM 2008: I Always Concede?

Im sorry but it just sounds like you're not very good at the game. How many times do you hear managers saying we should have won after losing or drawing a match? These things happen in football.

How many times do real managers and fans say that on a Sunday morning. It's football anything can happen Like Barnsley knocking you out of the cup or Stevenage taking a premiership side to a replay etc etc. Football in real life isn't a game of absolutes so why should it be that way in FM the best team will not always win live with it and move on, If you winning the league what does a few points dropped at Norwich matter you can't expect to win every game.
 
This is why I stopped playing FM. It made me so mad. I think my wife would have left me if I had kept going with it :p

It's nothing to do with being good or bad at the game. You have to remember it's a GAME and it's programmed to act in a certain way - it's not like it's running on a neural network that accurately predicts all the ins and outs of real football and actually learns as it goes along. It's a computer game. I found that the management side of the game pulled me in and kept me addicted, but the actual execution of the matches had me pulling my hair out!
 
I dont find I always conceed goals - do the majority of other players find that they do?

Like people have already said so called worse teams lose against better teams - HullvArsenal - Arsenal should have won 'trust me' but they didnt... Spurs bottom of the premiership, Newscastle struggling also.. football isnt an exact science and it would be boring if you won every game without conceeding because you bought a great team.

If you still win the league then its hardly rocking your world to conceed goals now and then, perhaps its your tactics if your using the same ones all the time. Im glad that one super tactic doesnt exist that helped you go on a 109 game winning run in 03/04.. FM is harder, playeers seem to cost more than real life but its Fm just enjoy it for what it offers
 
Just redesigned my tactics and think it's working. My new tactic focuses on getting the ball quickly up the field and getting shots in, so far it has worked. Whenever the opposition get the ball I rely on my midfield to halt their progress. I used to have about 15 shots a game, now it's above 20 and I score 3+ goals a game and only concede about 30% of the time
 
winning 3-0 against villarreal, bring on another defender, now have 5 at the back, no hope of conceding, but in the 91st minute they conveniently get a penalty and I don't get my clean sheet I deserve
 
its very difficult to shut a team out completely, especially a team of villarreal's quality. I just think you should enjoy the victories. Football isn't about getting a clean sheet every game and dominating every team 5-0.

lol, as I type, I'm drawing 3-3 with aston villa, I prefer not winning every game to be honest
 
I'm just trying to make the point that it is nigh on impossible to keep cleansheets, I've just played West Ham, was 1-0 up until the 89th minute when they scored from some good play, then in the 95th minute they got a freekick and scored. I'm gutted, lost 2-1
 
In my network game with my nephew I conceeded 21 goals in the league in the first season as Arsenal so I guess it wasnt impossible to not conceed, this year its 1 goal in five games... there must be a way to prevent conceeding. In some matches I have resorted to playing a 5-5-0 formation with full defence full time wasting but thats fairly rare..

I try, i try to no effect, I'm using 8.0.2 if it helps ;)
