Reading mixed advice on this. Built a budget pc for my son as an upgrade over his current ancient build for xmas using an X4 860K in an MITX case. Can I use the stock cpu cooler or is it useless for gaming and will cause throttling as I've been reading?
Is there a better air cooler that will fit and isn't too expensive? I now have a spare H100i but I'm not keen on using that as I've only just taken it out of my own build due to concerns that it might leak. I do however know that the radiator will just fit in that case.
Specs:
Corsair Obsidian 250D - Specs say cooler max height is 95mm. EDIT: Looks like actual cooler max height is 140mm as no optical drive will be installed.
Athlon X4 860K
MSI A88XI AC V2 AMD A88X (Socket FM2+)
TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 OC 4096MB
Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD
Corsair PSU
