i looked through the official thread and its more game talk so i thought i could justify a new thread.

so then, ive looked around the net and there s a lot of install problems going around but mine isnt mentioned.

when i start the game in steam all i get is the "FM2009 has stopped working" pop up.

ive tried installing the following and nothing works with both steam and uniloc, uninstalled steam and FM2009 and reinstalled both, tried patching both by downloaded patch file and by steam and tried running the program as admin and none of it works.

im pulling my hair out as i really enjoy FM games but havent got around to getting this one till yesterday and im starting to regret it.

any help welcome

cheers

Gary

You might as well post in the FM09 thread. We won't bite. Well apart from Syke. ;)

Sounds like you need to clean out any FM folders ANYWHERE on your PC. In C:\Windows\Program Files\ as well as your My Documents. Then also clean out your registry to remove any traces of FM09 that might cause the problems you've been having.

Have you had any problems getting the code right or have you not got that far yet?

What I would suggest is to completely remove any trace of FM/SI then try again with the DVD. If that doesn't work then you can apparently download and install FM through Steam. Your CD code proves you've bought it so you can acquire it through Steam without having to buy it through Steam.

You say you've looked around the net, have you been on SIGames' forum site? That might show something you've not yet seen to help fix this. Since its an install problem you've got I'm quite sure someone else will have had something similar.

Have you got the latest DirectX and Windows patches etc? I think there were some problems that were fixed by getting the above and graphics drivers sorted. Then at least if you can't fix the problem with my suggestions and nothing on the SI Forums help then you'll have the bugs forum to be able to post in.

Hey guys,

cheers for your advice, ive registered with Si games but since posting none of my games seem to work anymore i got an 0ex06 code for Mass Effect when i tried running that to so ive just completed a fresh install of Vista and im going to try again.

Cheers again, ill update if it still doesnt work
