What dat den?

I have seen the pictures of these things but how do they work? I have a Karcher thingy a big one with wheels and all sorts and a pipe (which I have never used) for injecting foamy stuff into it but I wondered what a foam lance offers? I have seen the cars looking like someone has got a bit excited but do you actually then need to go over them with a soft spongy glovey thing to wash or the suds off or is there a special foam to go with the foam lance that cleans the car without effort??

Thanks in advance.

Foamlances look good but dont really offer much imo, ive never really found em to shift much gunk tbh.

Its a luxury you can do without imo.

I don't agree with wohoo either. It's purpose isn't to replace washing the car - it's purely to try and remove as much surface crud as possible prior to washing. They're awesome, especially in winter.

I never found them shift that much more dirt in the pre-wash stage, not enough to justify the price tag anyway.

It just seems like a gadget to cash in on the detailing 'fad' imo.

I've got one for my Karcher and use it when the car is utterly filthy to remove as much surface grit and grime as possible prior to contact to reduce swirlmarks.

I just dont need and expensive foam lance and snow foam to do it, the £10 supersoaker and std shampoo does just as good a job

I agree that there are many detailing products that could be considered unnecessary fads, but having owned both a Gilmour and a foam lance, I really do think the lance provides superior dirt removal, if not simply for the fact that the foam clings longer allowing it to penetrate.

I want one. There is nothing better than foaming your car, then going for a rest break, and then come back in 20 minutes and hose the car down and find that half your washing work has already been done :p

foam lances are far better than the likes of the gilmour as they provide more foam/bubbles and a better covering resulting in ultimate dirt penetration.

It's not intended to clean the car fully, just release most of the surface dirt and grime to then be hosed off, resulting in less to wash off properly with the mitt so less chance of causing swirls
