Focus 1.6 Engine Warning Light

Heyup,

I have a 1.6 Ford focus, petrol 02 reg. Just this morning while driving it to work, I got the Engine Warning light flashing on and off when accelerating and when accelerating it seems to go really sluggish and spluttery. This light goes off when not accelerating or slowing down. Any ideas what it could be?
 
Google seems to be pointing to coil packs, whatever they are. Have booked it into the garage now for them to plug it into the diagnostics computer. Hopefully that will find it and it won't be expensive. Bloody cars.
