Hey all,
Around 6 months ago I started getting occasional resonation when idling and while accelerating before 2000rpm, it'd come and go, sometimes not to be seen for several tanks of diesel. But fast forward to today, no rattles or resonations at all for several trips. Last trip, while leaving town and shifting into 4th the clutch didn't come up straight away. It did come up after a second and I was able to shift into 5th then 6th. When approaching the next town and dropping speed down to 30 there was a loud rattling sound. Got to destination with it banging away. Clutch is now down and gears cannot be selected, as if the clutch is up.

So looking at getting a new DMF and clutch kit. Where is the best place to get these? Seems ECP are quite pricey, and eBay appears to have the LUK flywheel and clutch kits for a lot less. Local garage who I've always been to here is happy to fit parts I supply myself.

Car is a 2008 Focus 2.0 TDCI

Ring around some of your local motor factors, some might end up being cheaper than ECP. Check ECP's sister site, carparts4less also.

If no luck then Ebay is the best bet from a reputable seller.

GSF can have 40% off offers. this could mean a nice discount on those parts.

Oh and normally those parts on there are 20% more than normal anyway so you may have the VAT costs at the most

GSF seem quite expensive for these parts. £405.11 for clutch kit and CSC plus £342.54 for the flywheel!
£375 for the whole lot on eBay. I don't understand how they can be so cheap on eBay?! LUK parts too. Item 222184210512 for example.
ECP have a listing on eBay too for £416! 351724283583.
Loads cheaper than their own site, and the current discount code on ECP excludes transmission components hah.

That does seem expensive. IIRC two years ago I paid about £300 for all of it from ECP, albeit for a petrol

Had the same issue this week as my dmf is beginning to rumble occasionally. £500 for the Luk kit from ecp and the discount excluded transmission parts. Thankfully my local clutch centre will do the job for £660 including the crank seal, they only fit Luk kits.

Wow, £375 is pretty cheap. Didn't know DMF's could be that cheap.

I needed a new DMF last year on my car last year, and the Flywheel and Clutch kit alone is almost £1000. Luckily I didn't have to pay for it. :)

My FLywheel & Clutch cost £1100 in parts.

Then £300 for fitting and service.

What car would that be?

£300 is a very good price if it includes a service as well. You should try get a quote for the job from a dealer if you want a laugh :)

my mazda 3 2.2
They only charged me for the oils and filters, and no labour on the service. they were happy to do it along side the clutch and flywheel change

It only fits 90/100/105/110HP models so it is probably made of lesser materials, or the design doesn't need to be as complicated I'm guessing. Its also for one of the most common diesel engines out there. (the VAG 1.9TDI) which would help.

Its only a £100 - £150 job to fit too... :p

That's £375 for the flywheel and three piece clutch too, all Luk. Had to get the bolts separately for £3 something and I thought may as well get crank seal too for £10.
Should arrive at the garage Monday !
