Focus Mk2 Clutch Pedal Return Spring

Does this arise on the Mondeo too? Now and again I have a squeak when operating the clutch on my ST220, and this would seem to be a prime candidate...

Yes but my problem is my clutch STILL returns, with the spring, unless you push it right down against the firewall/floor, then sometimes it can stick

My clutch pedal squeeks because one of the bushings on the pivot has broken or missing. Worth casting an eye over before you buy any parts.

Wow! Didn't expect to see this thread again!

I sold my Focus not long after replacing the spring, to a friend who then had the spring snap AGAIN. They were too embarrassed to tell me what the garage charged them to change it, but I honestly can't blame anyone for going down that route.

Sorry I don't have the part code, I tried to forget anything to do with that spring, it cost me most of the skin on my knuckles..

However I have heard people just leaving it broken, at least that way it doesn't squeak (both new and pre-broken springs very quite noisy) I would be surprised if the Mondeo is vastly different in this area..

Amazing what pops up in a Google search, you always end up back here.

My Mrs recently got a 59 plate Mk2 facelift Focus and I'm wondering whether I can possibly hear the beginnings of a problem of this nature. Heard a metallic spring like noise a couple of times when pulling away, generally from cold and I had put it down to the clutch pedal. Car is booked in tomorrow to speak about it, still under their warranty so if I can at least point them in this direction it might help. Did anyone encounter any noises before this gave way entirely?
