focus, power steering noise

Hi, i have a '05 focus and noticed today when moving the steering wheel left or right there was a whining / groaning type noise, not a lot, but noticeable.

I do not know anything about cars, any idea what it could be? I will get it down to my local mechanic soon, but thought for the time being I would ask on here.


Checked Power steering fluid and that is at the correct level.

Sounds like your steering rack is on its way out, I'm not certain but would get it checked out
