A few months I posted about water leaking into the passenger footwell on my focus. With your help / links to other sites it looked as if the garage that done my last service messed up when putting the pollen filter in.

I took it back them them and they sealed it back up again, but the quality of the stuff they used must be crap as the car has leaked again and I can pull the scuttle about 5mm of the windscreen easily.

I went into ford and got the following:

Just want to check that it is the right stuff to seal the scuttle to the windscreen?

Cheers!

Ford have a different scuttle panel with drainage tube to alleviate this problem that usual starts after the first pollen filter change.

Part number : 1320540

Thanks for that Jonny. I thought that any Focus after 1999 would have hte new scuttle panel as standard? I think my problem is the sealant is that bad that the garage used, the drainage tube isn't good enough by itself.

Do you know if the rubber bondage stuff I've just got will do the trick?

I have no idea when the scuttle was introduced, if it ever was on the Mk1?

For some obscure reason I have jotted down the part numbers of the stuff for the pollen filter when last week i had a desire to give my car a proper service (no done it yet) but Ford list the seal as P/N 1316193

Looks similar stuff to you what you have I guess, just a strip of self adhesive seal material.

Nope, the RS still has the old version and that's an 03. Looks like the rights stuff, the important bit (and the reason that the Fraud spanner monkeys always **** it up - they tend to have grease all over their fingers) is to make sure that the panel & windscreen are spotlessly clean and bone dry - otherwise it doesn't bond properly and you are back to square 1.
