Check it's had all the common St faults rectified.
MPG is laughable, you'll struggle to top 30MPG on a long run, expect sub 20's in town or if using the loud pedal a lot.

just fancy a blast on the weekend type of thing. mpg yes have heard but petrol's usually do i guess.

I’ve had mine for 4 years, and apart from both drive shafts and an alternator it’s been faultless.
Fuel economy is utterly terrible, but you don’t buy an ST for economy.
If you plan on upping the power then doing the block mod, RS clutch, induction kit, intercooler (the std IC is from a focus diesel) and a new boost solenoid is a very good idea.
Mine is 300bhp ish and is much more fun than std, I just sob like a child when I look at the Mpg.
If you go to look at a few then take someone knowledgeable with you as there’s some absolute snotters up for sale.

Would be looking for one that has had the mods done. And yes a bit more power.
