Focus stereo question

I own a Mk 2 Focus with the rectangular 6000CD stereo. If I was to obtain the correct stereo surround panel, is it possible to retrofit the new style 6000CD unit from the Mk 2 facelift?

So you are suggesting changing the whole centre console?

I think even if you changed the centre console fascia, there will be different mounting points behind.

Quite possibly. However, I thought I'd ask anyway in case anyone has tried something like this.
