Focus vs 1 Series Auto Box

Old model, not the current one so old box. Only the current model has the 8 speed.

Looks like a fairly poor car, zero spec.

Yeah, I think the red F series I linked is also a poor spec is it not?

It's not great but at least it has i drive, the decent gearbox and is a current gen car. About as good as you can hope for at that money.

I notice it is actually one of the cheapest on autotrader. Buyer beware then :p

Put it this way, she is upgrading from a '99 1.0l Automatic Micra :( . It has 54bhp (when it was built), feels like half that when trying to get up to speed on the motorway. It has a cute little "sport" button on the gear stick :D anything is an upgrade from her current death trap.

To all the people who seem surprised by fox's statement the zf 8 speed is pretty much universally accepted by motor critics to be the best auto transmission around. Its really fast for a conventional single clutch style box and is in eveything from bentley continentals to 1 series's and Aston virages.
Infact more often than not for a car like a M235i for instance its recommended over the manual
It's not a single clutch style box.. it's a 'traditional' torque converter based automatic.

Drove the focus, it was nice. Not keen on the lane recognition camera jobbies. You can turn them off though. It seemed to have every other sensor available, like blind spot alarm, auto everything, etc. BMW unfortunately had a mix up and did not have an auto 1 series available for demo. Next week.
