Focused Events novice track days

Remember you pay for the damage if you crash their bikes though :p I have heard they only charge for what you break, lever etc, which is not too bad if you only low slide.
My take though is I would always use my own bike, from riding on track you learn so much about riding and about your own bike that you can put into use on the road, you wont find the limits of your own bike using a hired bike.
The only reason I would is to see what a certain bike was like on track before I bought on myself :D

Yeah but then if I bust it up would probably cost me a fortune and I'd be minus my bike :p
I have a GSX600F so wouldn't feel to comfortable taking that on track not really made for it is it?

How many track days have you done?

6 I think, would be 100+ if I had not busted myself up :p not been on track for a few years now, so frustrating!
In that 6 I have had 1 low slide, all it cost me was a new screen! But I have seen quite a few bad crashes, 1 bike totaled, but the rest most of the time its new fairing, levers, pegs etc... but always cringe when I see original fairings all bashed up!

You would be surprised at what people bring on track, have seen plenty of 600F's and similar, if your really worried about using your own bike then by all means use a hire bike, but a novice TD is really no different than going for a blast down your local roads, if anything its safer, nobody is making you go faster than your comfortable with, its all about learning the lines and how to utilise your bike :)

A GSX600F will be more than up to a track day. I wouldn't think twice about taking my road bike instead of my race bike to a track day (Bandit 1250 with centre stand and panniers vs. Ducati 900ssie with slicks, slipper clutch and quickshifter).

It's about learning control, going fast safely and having a good time. You can do that on any bike. Heck I've even seen a CG125 going round Brands Hatch Indy, it was flat out everywhere except Druids! :D

I am so tempted would be great for learning proper bike control but I am not the most confident of riders. I don't lean or take corners that quick on the road like some guys I see! Not sure if that's so important on the road isn't ideal to really practice hanging off my bike is it?

What is track day insurance like? Must be quite expensive, would need track Tyres as well which must be a bit pricey.

Not sure on trackday insurance though, tyres wise you won't be going mad so just use the road tyres, it'll take some life out of them but they should be fine, it'll be fine on a 600F as well, only done one trackday (couple of years racing though) and it was amusing to see the mixture of bikes :)

Back to tyres, I did my first day on track (rookie training day with Bemsee to get my licence/club membership) on BT092's which are pretty much a sports touring tyre and by the end of the day you could tell they'd been tracked but still plenty of life left in 'em :)

Do you have to pay a deposit, I wouldn't mind loosing 200 notes if I total one of their bikes but if I have the chance of landing an £8k bill I might pass. I was looking into this, will be a few years before I move up from a 125 so thought of this to pass the time.

As Skill said for your first one road tyres will be fine :)

Mucky_pup have you ridden anything other than a 125? going to a track ready 600cc sportsbike on track would be most likely dangerous rather than unwise lol

I went with focused events for my first track day at mallory park, can highly recommend it for the money!

Take your own bike and have a good time, the pace in the uber noob group I was in was slow enough to feel comfortable and not pressured into going quicker.

Do it!!
