Hey guys, I have a 500 gig drive here from my old machine, problem is, I locked half of it down to administrator on my old PC.

Now it's in the new machine, it requires me to change the owner of EVERY file included in all the folders that I also change the owner of.

Is there a easy way to do it on mass? As in the whole drive, un secured with me as the owner?

I tried just setting me as the owner on the drive, but again, the above problem still exists.

I could go through and do it all one by one, but don't paticularly want to go through 1000+ pics setting up the owners.

Cheers

Oh, win 7 ultimate 64 btw.

Should be able to just select a folder to change owner of, it then prompts you if to include sub files and folders. I don't know about now but back then on older hardware / XP it took ages to do.

I'm assuming windows 7 works just like XP did? (last time I had to do this was in XP years ago)

Done the same thing today

Goto the 'Properties' of the folder/drive you want to change -> 'Security' tab -> 'Advanced' button -> 'Owner' tab -> 'Edit' button -> 'Other users or groups' button
Type 'System' for the root of a DRIVE
Type 'Administrators' for the root of a FOLDER
Tick in the 'Replace Owners' and then click 'Apply'

If you've got to fix the permmisons tab then mine looks like this
Administrators - full - this folder, subfolders and files
system - full - this folder, subfolders and files
auth users - modify - this folder, subfolders and files
users - read & execute - this folder, subfolders and files

any long SSID's you can delete
