I have an annoying problem with folder redirection on my active directory domain.

Basically at the top level, under default domain policy i have set everyone's My Documents to be redirected to a network share.

Then i have two separate OU's, desktops and laptops.

Under the desktop OU i have a GPO that disables anything to do with offline files.

Under the laptops i have offline files switched completely on.

Every computer in the domain laptop or desktop gets their my documents redirected as they should and laptops get their redirected mydocs made available offline.

This is working fine except desktops also get their mydocs made offline, even though i have specifically turned off everything to do with offline files.

Not sure why its happening but its bloody annoying, any ideas?

rsop is showing the correct configuration, it's as if folder redirection is forcing offline files to be on for said redirected folder.

I'm assuming you're using Windows XP and Server 2003 (or at least XP ADM files in Group Policy if using Server 2000)

When you enable folder redirection all redirected folders are available offline. Exactly what options have you changed to disable this feature?

Have you considered enabling the user policy "Do not automatically make redirected folders available offline" on the user accounts who use the desktops, what ever OU they may be in. Or you could enable this on the original policy for folder redirection at the domain level, then enable the laptops locally for offline file use individualy.

Also, from one of the laptops and desktop machines, run gpresult /v >c:\dektop.log and laoptop.log respectively, post the results here.
