Folder sharing between computers?

Hi,
I have a small problem.

I have a small home server (WHS2011) which is basically a backup drive and Apache server.
I want to share a specific folder with a single user on a different machine.
How do I do that?

I know how to change the security permissions but the other machine doesn't show up when I go to select the user's location.

At the moment I'm having to share folders by setting them so all users get full permissions which isn't exactly ideal.

Win7, it looks like that thread is a it different to mine, I can share folders fine, I just can't set permissions to allow access only to a specific user.

I actually got it working yesterday my creating an identical user account on the server and pc, so when I log into the pc it apparently uses those credentials to request the restricted network share.
However, I just logged in today and it's telling me access denied again. I've made no changes to my systems since yesterday so I'm a bit perplexed.

Edit: I just disconnected all my network drives and reconnected them and it works. But only if I choose "log in with different credentials" and then put in the normal credentials anyway. Wat.
