Folding Again

Welcome back.

I probably wouldn't bother folding on the 1.6GHz lappy. I know from personal experience that it is dog slow and not worth the extra heat and noise.

just checked the C2D laptop temps, and its 72 and 74 degrees :eek:

is that normal? I remember wetting the bed at the thought of 50 degrees a few years back
 
My iMac (which is a small enclosure) can hit 69 or 70 degrees. It is hot, but still within the limits of the chip. To be honest, I'd be more worried about the other parts of the laptop rather than the chip itself. Its the main reason I don't fold on my macbook.

I'm sure it would be perfectly okay though, its just a personal choice of mine. :)
 
I have been told on here a few times that temps below 80C are safe for a C2D. But I wouldn't be comfortable with anything above 65C! That's probably the AMD in me :p

Still, 74C is probably not ideal in the confines of a lappy.

Sorry. Yeah thats getting pretty toasty now. I read somewhere that the core 2's are "safe" up to 100 degrees but I wouldnt let it get over 75 myself. :)

been on OCUK for years, and went through a phase of doing seti ages back, stopped when it went to boinc, started up for a bit, then stopped again !

Odd thing is, the pc's have been going a while, and my results page hasnt changed... is this normal?

Are you sure you used your old account & not created a new one? Should get credit within 6hrs of uploading,tops.

defo used the old one,

Just installed FahMon, and it recons there are days until completion... that sound right?

Depends on the WU & yr PC. A project 3403 206 points takes me nearly 2 days :( on a 64x2 4600

Could be normal or you could be running without SSE - depends if they are big or small WUs really.
Copy the log file into here - stick it in [ CODE] tags then it'll be scrollable rather than messing up the page

I've never had one of those :p

I get 320-330 on these units though...

2913 - 320
2611 - 330
2606 - 335
1499 - 410
1497 - 325

...done any of those? :p

I think it was the SSE thing :o

I've just put in a folding@home sig block... are there any that can show your average ppd?
