its now cold in my little room with my PC in it so i think i need a 250wat heater ...as my number 2 son has stolen my 7870 and using it for gaming (it was a 1100mhz one aswell)...i suppose i need to shell out for another ....am i still best off with AMD or is maxwell working now? ...i was thinking of a s/h 7970

970 or 960 is good bang for buck and both use less power than a 7970

I have a 960, 780ti and 980ti all folding with no issues, not sure on AMD cards but haven't heard anything bad

thats useful info..a gtx960 looks to be a bit better than a 7970 with a lot less power and the same or a little more £$ second hand.....how many post is it till i have access the second hand goodies on here??

If you're thinking of gtx960, I have a leaf blower reference cheapest of the lot KFA 960 and running it with power limited to 50% in afterburner to keep it cool and quiet and it is getting 115k ppd with temp of just 50c. If you got one with a better cooler and ran it at 100% with higher clock speed you'd be nearer or around 200k ppd I reckon. When the current wu finishes I'll run it at full pelt for a while and let you know the ppd

OK, here's a screenie with power limit at 50%

And another with power limit at 100%

Not as much difference as I thought there would be, a better cooler and higher clocks would boost the ppd further. Not bad though for a 120w vga card
