Today I caught myself thinking and thought I better finish before I cause myself an injury! I was thinking about how a lot of the regular posters on here seem to be running the SMP client and I wondered just how many people there were.

I know most SMP folders are running Linux via VMWare but we're all still running it nonetheless. Seems to me that Stanford have done a great job in getting lots of people over to Linux!

I think it would be nice if people could tell us what foldy type clients they are currently running on their main folding machines. Just to satisfy my curiosity Be great if this could be made into a poll too. Options could be something like Standard Client, SMP Client, GPU Client, Mixture of Above.

I'm running the standard CLI client on all my rigs; some run Windows, some Linux, and some OS X.

My main machine ([email protected], 1GB PC3200 DDR, X1900XT 512MB) is running an SMP client under VMware and is also running a GPU client in WinXP.

Combined output is about 1150PPD and I need more RAM!

I know that getting linux going gives a nice ppd boost, but I really can't be bothered with vmware and getting SMP on my X2 3800. I'm just lazy !

AMD 4800. One SMP client on Ubuntu with Vmware. One GPU client on 1950Pro.

Not on a mac no, on a normal pc.
I guess there's a performance hit?

I need windows on my media center but i could run the smp on ubuntu from within virtual pc, if it would work.

I intend to have two normal Windows clients running in Vista (dual-booting) when I can be bothered to start using it again.

So, have you gave up with the GPU?

Figured out i would get more PPD running 2 SMP clients, i get 13-15mins a frame with 2 SMP clients... instead of 8mins a frame with a single one (using just 20% more CPU to get me the extra PPD.. more than i would get with the GPU.

i estimate about 22 hours per WU so thats about 1000-1200 PPD instead of about 800 with the GPU
