------------------------------

Big bounce back this week, well done guys :)

My linux bigadv is stable and doing well, it is running really cool as well so might have to try to bump the overclock a bit :)

Now just need to get the 460 going in linux now.

And damn you BaBa, stomping me!!! *shakes fist* :p

conky is one that everyone seems to rave about, it uses lm-sensors.

http://conky.sourceforge.net/

It sits on the desktop and shows pretty much whatever info you want it to. I've installed it up but not had time to set up (or find from someone else) a config file that has everything I want yet.

Actually just seen one in there screen shots (top right one) that has a fah monitor on as well, I'll give that a go later.

edit: yes it's not straight forward, but nothing is with linux! lol, but it wasn't that hard to set up. I'd be interested in a simple one as well, even things like cpu-z are a pain to find!!

Starting to lose my patience again with linux.

Tried to get the temp display working in conky, turns out lm-sensors isn't picking anything up. Ran lm-sensors detect options - nothing, google it and it turns out it the sensors on my motherboard (P8P67-M Pro) aren't supported yet. As with a lot of problems, lots of threads with people having the problem, none with a solution. The support just isn't there if you want to run new tech.

Tried to run a backup with simple backup to an external hard disk - didn't work, will have to try to figure out what went wrong there.

Tried to get my 460 doing some boinc stuff until I could sort out folding through wine, Boinc doesn't connect properly to the account manager, again lots of threads, known issue but no solutions.

Linux is just constant faffing to get things to work, and there's only so much a spinny cube desktop can do to make you feel better about that.

I read a quote somewhere that linux is only free if you don't value your time. So true.
:(

Rant over.

Crap, I completely forgot the news today sorry guys!!

I had the day off work so was pottering around and didn't have any reminders pop up on my screen.

Speed sorry to hear you're going to be leaving us :(
