News, fingers crossed everything should be ok now, let me know if you spot any problems.
 
Yay, more foldy news :D

Not quite sure how I am holding second place for total output, but with the talk of some of the bigger hitters coming back to the fold (see what I did there?) with their GPU based rigs, this might not last.

For me the challenge now is to see if I can make it to 200million before they kill off BigAdv WUs, before the end of January, making Biffa's ex rig no longer viable for folding.
 
It could still be very usefull at Boinc, or they may come out with something else that utilises the big iron, don't give up yet :)

I'm just folding with what I have, not buying more kit unless I sell old kit first. But definitely not going after the big iron like the old days :)

That would assume that I am capable of working out how to install Boinc. :p It's a good job you set it up for folding as all I do now is restart it when it occasionally falls over (usually because it can't internet connect - stupid Virgin Media), but re-installation, especially with Linux on which I am clueless, would be a major challenge :eek:
 
They [H] do an updated usb stick image that does boinc as well as folding. :eek: but at some point you would have to get your hands dirty..
 
I suspect the rig isn't worth very much if I were to try and sell it. :( Biffa saw the writing on the wall and got out at the right time as stuff moved from CPU to GPU. ;) Few home users would be needing 64 core systems and those who did want that power for a server would no doubt desire a rackmount thing for a data cabinet somewhere, so it's all wrong really.
 
You've had it for a year now, and I only sold it to buy Intel gear remember :) I was still into big beasties at that time (mainly Intel) so wasn't "getting out" per-se .

I only got out when I got tempted by the evil bitcoinses my precious :eek:

but surely it'll be worth enough to power a couple of gpus and a psu?
 
i keep getting a crashed display driver and then half way throw 12 hour WU it resets its self, done this 3 times now.

Can you change the driver to an earlier version? I know folding have a problem with the maxwell based GPUs, but dunno if that could affect you.

ill give it a go, got to sort my cpu out now, only 1 of thr 4 lugs are holding the heatsink down correctly :eek::eek: no wounder im getting idiot temps

Not any more ;)

Back up to full speed again. Currently doing about 530K PPD. Flat is nice and toasty now as well :D

Team output has taken a healthy boost the last few days as well :cool:
 
Tell you what my 760M is running quite well and the laptop fan is quiet so long as I don't turn on cpu folding, then it increases noise dramatically.
My current ppd prediction is 35k
