Hello all, another very productive week for team 10, with a team stomp on the horizon for this week! :D

If you've not done already get your calculations made and submitted for Mr Ts competition :)

Finally in the top20 :) 3 machines are serving me well but soon enough I'm going to be back to one machine as the others are being used elsewhere :(

dekez, you're too quick with the news! :p just dumped another bigadv about 15 minutes ago!

Bring on the next team stomp anyway!

Looks like I'm not doing too bad - running 3 rigs atm (but will drop back to 2 soon): i3 2100, i7 860 & i7 930 (will be loosing the i3).

Hopefully, i should be able to aquire a few upgrades - including an i7 980 to replace the i7 930.

Don't think I'll be able to challenge the mighty Biffa and BaBa - but should be able to demote dekez on ppd :)
 
:eek: :( fair enough my PPD will be halving after I dump the next bigbigadv unit as well as I'll be switching one rig back to boinc.

I will of course make sure that when you do come knocking on my door I'll put up a decent fight ;)

I saw your query about the 980 in the other thread, I "think" it should pick up bigbigadv units ok with the tracker but the issue would be if it completes them in time. I seem to remember Biffa saying it was quite tight on the deadlines so you would most likely need to run it in on linux in VMware. I'm sure he would be able to clarify. :)
 
I thought you couldn't run the 12 core cpu's in vmware - only uses upto 8 cores?

I shall have to get Mr Biffa to explain it to me in great detail......

Ah yes good point, I think he was running it in Virtualbox, anyway I will stop with my vague memories lol.
 
Found a new machine that I could temporarily assimilate and to boost my feeble output. Put the user name in incorrectly. So there will be a new team member next week :(
 
Should have the CPU uprade within a few days - i7 990X

Still got another 17 hours to go on my 4x2TB Raid5 Array rebuild :(

Biffa and myself have reached the top 100 so its been a good week:D
 
i7 990X installed and running - first unit picked up: 6900

Now, lets see what it can do.......

Running at 4.4GHz and 2000MHz memory - only thing I don't get is why CPU-Z reports it as an i7 X 000 (after reading up - looks like it's because the 2d booster is enabled - will have to check bios when I reboot)

Got two OCZ Agility's (60GB SATA3) for use on the Asus RE3 (Raid 0) - but Asus still have not sorted out the Marvell Controller issue. So in Raid 0 the are actually slower than running them individually.

Still, I shall keep them for the next rig.

Also, I just ordered two OCZ Vertex2 (50GB SATA2) - but again I didn't check to make sure what drives I already had - turns out I've got the OCZ Vertex2E's (60GB) DO'H.

So I just sent a webnote to cancel the order - will have to source two elsewhere as OcUK don't have any.

Finally, I'm still waiting for my Win7 Ultimate to arrive - to install on a Raid0 config (if I manage to get the two Vertex2E's).

Just upped the CPU to 4.6GHz as 4.4GHz was very stable and cool.


Edit: Two OCZ Vertex 2E's 60GB just ordered - delivery Saturday

The temps have gone up as the case is now residing under my desk with zero ventilation.

Those are still very good temps, do you have it under water? my 980x on air does similar temps but @ 4.2, bios vcore is 1.306v.
 
Yes, it's water cooled....

Not had chance to fiddle yet (only got cpu yesterday).

Once I get the HDD issue sorted (weekend) and Win7 Ultimate installed (some time in the next two weeks) I'll be looking at lowering the Vcore to find stability threshold.

Temps with case out in open fluctuate between 58 - 68 under full load.

I must say - I'm impressed with it so far (got it for £570 - so once I've sold the i7 930 it'll have cost me about the same as an i7 980).
