posted this in the software section, but got reccomended to come here, so could admin please close/delete the other thread?
cheers.

trying to get into the folding scene with the phenom using the smp client. Everything was working fine and dandy for a few months, but in the last week or so, when i fire it up, task manager says it only ever uses 25%, even though its set to use all 4 cores.
The little core monitor gadget i have shows the program is still being bounced around the cores, but none of them hit 100% (ie, it seems to use about 25% of each core).

ideas?

well i did a complete reinstall of everything. I get that message twice (not sure if it was displaying before, forgot to check...). everything went fine in the setup untill i ran it for the first time, but now it cant seem to find the work server:

i guess this last bit is something really simple that ive missed (i allowed it through windows firewall, and even tried disabling it)

edit: if i run the exe directly (ie, without the -smp) it will happily download and start chugging away, but i then shut it down and rebooted with the -smp i just get FILE_IO_ERROR

edit edit: it sorted the io error out and now its back to the cant find server loop in the image

edit: no im not using the advmethod ... what does it do? (pretty new to all this...)

well thanks for all the info people.
im pleased to say that by adding the -advmethods it found a unit and now seems to be happily crunching away on all four cores :)
