Supermicro H8DCE (or similar)

2 x AMD Opteron 848 = 8 Cores each (bought for £52 the pair )

Can't beleive how cheap I've manged to pick up 35 Ghz of crunching power for £52

Phew. I can recover from shock now then.

The 848 is a 2.2GHz single core, you can run up to 8 of them in one machine with an 8 socket mother board. Each Processor is about 90watts though

If was doing that I'd run 8 dual cores for 16 cores
