I'm deciding which OS to stick on a cruncher and need to know which is best for folding - Windows or Linux?

Any thoughts on this? :)

The machine that they bench the WUs on when deciding on how many points to make them runs Linux.

As for which is faster, I doubt that you would find a massive difference between Windows or Linux.

Performance wise they are about the same. But if you want easy of use, especially installing as a service, then windows is the way to go.

Linux is cheaper though - especially for the way I want to use it, so if there's little or no difference, I'll grab a copy of Ubuntu or somesuch and shove that on.

Linux is slower in my experience, not becasue of the way it runs but becasue of the work you get. All I ever seem to get are Gromacs33 WU that use the FahCore_a0.exe core. This runs very slowly and it's Linux only. Other than that Linux is a fine way to run FAH.

ooops seems I re-stomped you Mister Berserker sir :o :p
