hi all,

ive just started to run this again under the name of 'br'..on 5 pc's so far but have 5 more to get it installed on.

Is it worth running it on dual p3s? as ive got 4 of these. I tried to install it on one and its still running but it will only use one of the processors even with afinity set to both? do I neeed to install the service twice on them?

have got it on an xp3700 @ 2.54, xp3500 @ stock, xp2500 semptron, tbird 1400 and a p3 450@512 now. got dual 667, 733, 866 and 1000 and also a p3 733 to get it on yet.

thanks for any help,
ben

One installation will only ever run one process. To use both CPUs you'll need to install two separate consoles in two separate directories. The individual set-up is the same except on the second one you'll have to change the Machine ID in the Advanced Settings.

The setup is exactly the same as for a single CPU except for a few things.

Put another copy of the console in a *different* directory. Otherwise they’ll interfere with each other. I like to put one in C:\Fold1 and another in C:\Fold2. You do the same things as with a single client; same with the shortcut, same with the registry edits. It's just that you have to do each twice. Using the -local flag in this instance is especially important.

On the second installation you'll have to change the Machine ID. You need to go into the advanced settings and set the machine ID equal to some number not equal to 1 that is less than or equal to 8. 2 works but for some unknown reason I use 8. The machine ID only needs to be changed if you have more than one FAH process on a single system. If you've more than one computer running FAH you do not needto change the Machine IDs unless each machine has more than one process running.

if they are 500MHz or more and on 24/7 then they should be able to handle any of the work available

if lower spec or not on as often then you could still use them and just specify deadlineless work

for the dual cpu systems you'll need 2 consoles installed into seperate folders and configure them with machine ID 1 and machine ID 2 so they don't end up working on the exact same WU

welcome back :)
