Dunno if any of you foldies and rosetta people are interested, looks like the rosetta people have added another twist to the plot:

foldit looks like a game that allows you to try and optimise protein folding, just like your computer is doing, but with the human intuition added in. can we beat the danged machines?

i've played through the tutorials, not yet gone online to duel/challenge others yet, but I think most people should be able to get the general jist quite easily.

Although I have to say that as a protien scientist, I probably am quite bad, as what I think I know gets in the way of just sucking it and see what happens.

Quite fun anyway, and a good primer for protein folding education.
(not that we know for certain thats how it works, this is how we think it works :))

I tried it and it was quite fun, but it just kept crashing (OSX) so I had to give it up.

Would be great if they had a mobile version for iPhone or something so I could do a few while the kettle is boiling.

oops, sorry stew, I hadn't searched... and back in May!

Nope I haven't formed a team, and I'm actually stuck on the last two of the tutorials because my logical brain gets in the way of intuition. I keep pulling the entire thing apart, lol.

Are you still fiddling with it? we could be a team of two :)

Said the actress to the bishop....;)

Haven't monkeyed with it in a while, but yeah form a team and we'll see if anyone else joins in.

The facility was there to share your best score with other members of the team to tinker with thus prooving that the collective is greater than the sum of it's parts.

Or something.
