It sounded hideous & when it turned off the dual carriageway it had flames coming out of the exhaust, looked really daft, what's all that about then?:)
 
If it's not a flamer kit then it's overfuelling on lift-off due to being de-catted - the same reason it was so loud.

It wasn't happening all the time, just when he slowed & turned off. I hadn't heard of or seen a 'flamer kit' before, Google has though and those things don't need to exist, but I guess that's what it was now & my initial thoughts of the driver seem to be correct:)
 
i thought these kits consisted of a sparkplug stapped inside the exhaust, which causes the fumes to ignite?

They do indeed, and spark at a rate so fast it looks almost constant to the human eye. The unburnt fuel gets propelled past and through this spark and that ignites the fuel making the flame you see.

Of course some cars flame naturally. Mine did until I had it remapped.
