Font display problem - windows 7 -IE and Chrome

Hi All

Not quite sure the best place for this really, so put it here, (mods please put it where you feel is most appropriate)

My pc has a bit of a problem with both IE and Chrome whereby some text displays terribly, and other text doesn't display at all. Now this is by no means on all text but the text it affects is virtually impossible to read.

Examples:

This is an example of when it can't display the text at all. (this is actually a grab from the clear text setup which I tried just incase that was the problem but some text shows up like this in IE too)

I figure it's some sort of font issue but I'm not sure what or what has caused it.

Any help much appreciated!!!

start>programs>accessories>right click Command prompt and run as administrator. type:

Code:

sfc /scannow

this will check for corrupt system files. hopefully it will work on fonts??

Finally had a chance to give that a try, came back saying no errors (or something to that effect...)

Any other ideas?

Looks like possibly your copy of the Arial font is corrupt, perhaps try getting a copy of it from another PC and reinstalling it, otherwise installing this from Microsoft might help: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16083

Thing is though I use Arial everysingle day as it is the standard font we use at work for publications etc whic I put together, and I've never had a problem with it in Indesign or when sending work to the printers?!?!

check accessibility settings (had this before at work) & go into internet options in ie and reset them all in advanced

fixed it for me at work.
