Font problem with XP

A few weeks ago I installed a whole bunch of new fonts to XP, they slowed it right down so I deleted them all, along the way I deleted a few of the default system fonts as well.

However, I have managed to reinstall all the default fonts with no problems, but it has left me with one remaining problem, in almost every program I open, the text is too big and not the regular font is used to use, obviously when I was messing around with the fonts, I must have deleted the default font that XP uses for various programs and it replaced it.

Now let me clarify I don't mean that the text you type in programs like word, notepad, etc...but I mean the actual text in options boxes, menus and so on is all screwed up!

I was under the assumption that once I sorted out all the fonts, it would go back to normal, but not the case, so any ideas how I can remedy this...thanks!

Well first you could try reloading the default windows theme.. as the actual theme won't have been edited upon removing the fonts.

To do this, right click your desktop > properties > themes > from drop down click 'windows xp' > ok > apply etc..

This should load the default Windows XP theme again.
If you still have problems, you can just customize the theme manually.. by going to properties again > appearance > font (and clicking the 'advanced' button) > changing font for window panes etc..

Hope that helps. ;)

Thanks for the help, i've tried that but to no avail, i've still got the oversized text in most programs I use :(

Will try to post a screenie to explain what I mean!

Have you tried my second suggestion and then changed the font size? ..as you can literally manually change the fonts/colour/sizing of window panes/dialog boxes/icons/labels etc..

Yeah a screenshot would be useful. ;)
