fonts in vista

hey guys i've got vista set up on my partition just to play games and for other programming reasons. i mainly use linux, my main issue is font are so blurry in vista why? i can't stand it. I've tried turning of cleartype, which simply makes it worse.

I'd appreciate the help.

Right click your desktop > Personalize > Window Color and Appearance > Open classic appearance > Effects > Either untick the top box, or set the drop-down menu to standards.
 
If it's on a vga connection, press the "auto adjust" button on your monitor

-on vista here and fonts are sharp, no less sharp than my linux installation
 
Try an auto adjustment in your screen options. You might even have a dedicated button to auto adjust.

Also, check your screen Hz is the highest it can go.
