Foobar configurations in here

Well I hate the fact you have to download a million plugins to get a particular skin to work so I was thinking people could post their configurations in this thread with their themes/components folders zipped up and uploaded so people viewing can just extract it into their Foobar folders and have a decent configuration.

So for anyone that can be bothered, post away...

It's one of the most annoying things about Foobar - sharing configurations.

I used the DarkOne one for a while and then decided I wanted something more functional than pretty (and DarkOne added a step to most things), so went back to my own tweak using the out of box theme (it being minimised to the system tray 95% of the time, it's not like I need to look at it).

Backup your %appdata%\foobar folder first!

1) download and install Foobar2000, but don't start it yet.*

2) extract the contents of foobar_components.zip to C:\Program Files\foobar2000\components (32-bit Windows) or C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\components (64-bit Windows). Don't overwrite any existing files - they're components which come with Foobar.

3) extract the contents of foobar_appdata.zip to %appdata% (go to start, type it (or copy/paste it) and press enter).

4) start Foobar, go to Library > Configure > remove the music folder E:\Music\Albums from the library list and add your own library or libraries.

5) To add lyrics to any song which isn't automatically picked up, click on a song, go to View, Lyric Show and click online search.

* if you do start it, it's not a problem, just delete the contents of %appdata%/foobar before step 2.

^you shouldn't share your whole configuration folder like that . it will overwrite everyone's default settings - you should only share foo_ui_columns.dll.cfg

Meh, updated the file, but it would overwrite the Columns UI settings anyway.

No-one would use it anyway - I only upped it to demonstrate that I prefer function first and in this case eye candy isn't needed at all. Still, I've added a backup instruction to cover idiots. :P

I'm a Longterm Winamp user.. but I'll give Foobar ago!.. and I'll try this skin! :)
Please, for the love of god, do yourself a favour and *don't*. foobar2000's whole design ethos is all about functionality - the organisation and maintenance of large music collections - and frankly these half-baked "skins" make as much sense (to me at least) as bolting Damien Hirst artwork onto the fuselage of an F-22.

THis whole idea is ill-conceived IMHO - foobar2000 is a complex program which takes time, effort and patience if you want to exploit its full potential, and the last thing beginners want to be doing is chucking in a collection of third-party components and configurations cobbled together by someone else, with no real idea of how they work and interact... :(

I've been using DarkOne for while and just can't get my head around it. I love how it looks but I'd rather go back to iTunes than continue using Foobar with this skin, its just a pain to use. I can't even search for tracks, its difficult to scan albums etc etc... Shame, it does look lovely!

Why you can't search for tracks?
Just type the name of the track to the search bar (maybe you need to set it up to search in all playlists first: click on the search symbol --> Search in --> All playlists).
The results will be listed in a new playlist (not DarkOne behaviour but foobar2000 behaviour).

You could also easily search for artists:
single click in the playlist view and type-in the name of the artist.

Another search functionality:
Ctrl+F (will open an extra window with the playlist search)

Or the media library search with the ability to create auto-playlists:
Menu Library --> Search

Or use the filters or the album list or...or...or... ;)

What do you mean with "difficult to scan albums"?
Replaygain scan? Scan in the media library (which isn't difficult, but automatic...)

Btw. DarkOne doesn't changes foobar2000's behaviour and doesn't limits its functionality in any way - except that it is totally made for edit (and of course listen to) the now playing file.

All who made statements about these "terrible skins" should probably TRY it first ;)
Of course there might be some problems in its usage, because it is done to suit my needs, but i at least try to answer every question and try to help with any problem the user may have when using DarkOne (on deviantart or the german foobar-users Forum and of course with the user guide shipped with DarkOne).

Very long time winamp user

I gave foobar a go and love it , only thing I would like
which I cant either work out is there a way to get it to play tracks randomly
from one single playlist (if i have more than 1 playlist open i think it randoms between them all)
