Wish i was in a Ramen Shop Counter
Could one of these be used to make a smoothie? Looks like it would be a lot easier to clean than a normal blender.

Aye stick blenders are great.
i use this one at work. http://www.brakesce.co.uk/products/...spx?agid=374&gclid=CKKkmMCCq7cCFRTMtAodMVkAMA
great toy/

as for soup. cook as normal then blitz then pass if needed. then season.

a penne pomodoro sauce is nice and easy.

chop an onion or 2, about 5 tomatoes, can of chopped tomatoes 2 or 3 cloves of garlic (depends on taste) bring all to the simmer, blitz, keep in the fridge and just add to pasta for a quick snack.

I have that exact blender and apart from soup, have used it to make hummus and a rather amazing borlotti bean and anchovy pate. I'll give you the ingredients when I get home if you want.

I guess so, not tried it but when I used it, it feels like some kind of suction effect going out so it was pulling ingredients underneath up to the blades. It's how the blades are designed I guess and creates some kind of vortex when it turns. I made another milkshake this morning for breakfast and didn't need to use the jug it came with (which is wide enough for the blender to fit all the way down, I just put the banana, milk and ice cream all in my travel cup and put the blender into that, the cup gets narrow as it goes down and isn't wide enough for the blender to go all the way down, only half way but it still blended everything because of the suction, took seconds with no splash or spill.

I did do it over the sink though just in case, then ejected the blade section to rinse straight out. Start to finish under 2 minutes and 1 of that was getting ingredients out of the cupboards.

Mostly use mine for guacamole these days!

They're good for mash potato or vegetable purée. Try this with roast parsnips.

I could do with a proper food processor as frozen fruit and yoghurt doesn't blend too well with a hand blender.

Just bought one so I can make milkshakes this summer, if and when it arrives!

I know I can make soup but what else can I make?

What kind of soup is good and do I blend it before or after I boil it?

FYI I got this one

Amazing how it does not splash the content when i made the milkshake, no lid and everything stayed in the jug when i blend !

Always blend when the ingredients are hot otherwise the soup will be grainy.
