I know I'm a little late to this party, but over the weekend I picked up FM2006 for about £8. Can any of you hardcore players out there give a noob like myself some tips?

I've started with the mighty Dorchester in the Conference South div, so no money, and about 2 half decent players already on the books.

Any tips would be most welcome.

Many thanks. Paul.

Dude, sorry to point out the obvious but FM2007 can be picked up for £20! Just come out.

Google "Football manager 2006+recommended players" and you'll find some decent players, however in that league its hard to attract anybody!!

Very true. I thought I would start small, and cut my teeth in the lower leagues first. Although having no money is pretty tricky! Still, I'll keep at it with Dorchester for atleast the first season, and then look to move on.

Today, Dorchester, tomorrow Dagenham and Redbridge!!!!

If your a newbie to it, a big club would be best to get to grips with!

Respect for going with the lower clubs, I got Harrogate Town to prem!

I support a Premiership club, so the urge to immediatly play as them was hard to resist. However, the idea of taking control of a smaller, more managable club at first seemed the best way to get into the game.

After 2 days of playing it, I have real high hopes of taking Dorchester into the Conference. Played a friendly against Coventry, and got totally run over... next friendly was against Chesham and took them in a 3-1 thriller!!!

Loving the game itself, and will probably end up getting FM2007 now!!!!!
