Football Manager Machine

Hi, just doing a bit of research for my mate. He reckons he has a budget of about £500 for a new machine that will be used for Football Manager 2010 when it comes out, and the usual internet/watching dvds stuff.

There's no rush on a monitor, he can use whatever until he can get the budget up, but if you can budget one for now then feel free. I can give him my old 3870 to cover the 3D graphics side of football manager if needed, so the brief is really just for a CPU intensive machine, plus whatever other goodies you fancy. A card reader would probably be handy too, and he will need case, mouse, keyboard. I think he has speakers covered.

Cheers

Any other suggestions? I think he fancies having a card reader and that sort of thing, so would be happy enough taking a hit on the cpu or something else to cover the cost of the little extras. Maybe one with decent overclocking potential with air cooling?

Im not the best at giving adcie tbh but from what I have learned from here through the help of others any of these machines should meet his needs and come with better graphic cards than the one you mentioned :-)

Hope this helps!

Also if you want to keep the cost even lower and really want that GPU you stated above then look a few thread below this and someone has put up the "primo" model on special this week!

No that's not the gfx card wanted, I'm just saying I have an old one lying around that he could have to cut back on expense if the price was going too far over the budget.

By the way, I can build it for him if you guys can point me in the direction of the components.

Thanks

Building one yourself or your friend an option, memory will not run at rated speed unless the cpu is overclocked on this board, but is in stock and run at lower speed 1333mhz.

RJC's spec is very good i would go for a dual core 550 though due to very small performance difference and a 4870 with with the cash difference.

Cool, I'll have to see what he reckons. He uses his 360 for any proper graphics games, so the 4870 might be overkill, though the option to play more intensive games on the pc might be appealing to him.

If anyone has other options feel free, it's good to have options. Many thanks to you guys so far.
