How do we know random stats such as distance covered, passes completed, possession and so on?


Distance covered...i assume there is some form of chip in the boot or a camera tracking movement?

I know at Anfield they have a series of cameras in each corner of the stadium. They track the ball and the player movement. I remember seeing a video clip of Rafa in his office and he was reviewing the back line and how it moved during counter attacks. Very, very interesting piece of kit.

Every club signed up to Opta stats have the same equipment :)
