I'm thinking of buying this, playing with real life players rather than AI really appeals to me.

So, is it worth the money I'd be paying a month? And overall is it a good game? As addictive as the other FM titles?

Let me know the good and bad points please!

Also, is it worth buying from shops or just downloading it?

Thanks

isn't this released tomorrow? If so i'm not sure many people will be able to answer your questions. Also isn't this p.c only?

It's good fun and it's very very addictive, don't expect to have a team of galacticos though for a long long time - the new financial restrictions put in place in the last patch means that finances build up quite slowly :(

Is it a game, the more you play the better you get or is it actually based on skill?

Can a passing Don please move this to PC section.

I am quite interested in this, I didn't get FM2009 this year, is the game as good or are the features cut down significantly?

I played the beta for about five months and although I enjoyed most of the game there were a few things that just bugged the absolute hell out of me which made me cancel the heavily discounted pre-orders they offered to beta testers. My team was top ten in my first gameworld of about 500 teams and top 50 on my second.

The good - tactics, trying to build a team, developing some kids through to being stars
The bad - the transfer/contract system (as an example I always tried to sign Celtic/ex-Celtic players to build my team but without bankrupting myself I couldn't hold them together for more than a season), the corner exploit, playing AI matches and losing freak results.

To try to help visualise the pain magine playing FM09 and being Man United or Barcelona. It's the 90th minute and you've been hammering the bejesus out of Accrington Stanley but just can't score when on their first attack of the match they manage to take the win. That's the sort of frustration the game seemed to cause me, I could laugh it off as a game most of the time but after a couple of months of it I just didn't want it anymore.

You can train up various attributes over time, these affect various aspects of your coaching skills, tactics, physio, man management, scouting, financial management which all affect your manager.

Played it for a few weeks and i quite enjoyed it, not sure what it costs to play but i reckon its worth a look. Putting seven or eight goals past a real persons side is much more satisfying, i found there were some pretty good people to play with who were happy to offer advice to new players.

how many hours a week will I have to put into it? And at certains times?

Each gameworld has different FA's running the main competitions which give you a chance to pick when you want to play. There'll be like an extreme FA for people who want to be online all day for games or one for people who might only get on in the early/late evening.

At the start I could happily put in 8 hours a day because building my team was great but after a while you just need to login for half an hour to play a few games or AI games. You can pick and choose how you want to play it basically.

Do you actually buy the game then pay the subscription, or just the subscription?

I've got a discount to get 12 months for £36 but not sure if I then have to buy the game or if I can just download it?

I'm pretty sure you can just download it. The end of beta/start of release time was planned to be a sort of soft release so they could ramp it up gradually and I think it's only just landed in shops now. Only difference as far as I know is the shop bought one might come with the first few months subscription included.

Just checked a retailer and the boxed copy comes with 4 months subs so you should be able to download or buy it in a shop depending on what you prefer.

Yeah I've got the 12 months for £36 deal too, not sure if I would have subscribed at full price.

It's nice to have my "own" team for real now after the stop-start-reset nature of the Beta :D Currently ranked 1st in my Gameworld but that might change as I'm making a huge gamble selling my star player :|

Has anyone got this game to work on a 1024x600 resolution?

The normal commands you add to the shortcut for 08 and 09 don't work on FML :(
