If i was to overclock an i7 , on a stock cooler to 3ghz would i have to change any voltages , could i just leave everything at auto and just change the blck??
cheers.:D

I would manually set it, as the board may over-volt a fair bit.
If you fail prime or IBT up the voltage a notch or two.

This should work without any issues, however, if you're using a Gigabyte X58 board, then you will want to set the vCore to Normal instead of Auto, as the voltage will increase when you raise Bclk.

If your BIOS doesn't have a Normal setting for vCore then find out what the VID of your chip is, and then set the vCore in the BIOS to match your chips VID.

You could probably do 3GHz by undervolting tbh, I am able to do 3,5GHz with my D0 with only 1.175v, it's only really when I start pushing past 3.5GHz that I have to start raising my voltages.

Thanks guys. so would 1v for a 3ghz oc be enough? and also would i have to change the 1600mhz ocz moduels in any way or can i leave everything else alone.

SO ..please can u state the exact things i would have to alter in the bios for the 3ghz overclock. I.e : recomended voltage?

cheers again!;)

i just set the bclk to 150 and thats it . it idles at 36c and thats with a small arctic cooler on it
