For people with an SG01

After making my mind up to down size from my kandalf, I've opted for the Silverstone SG01. While the 03 offers better airflow to me it seems more like a mini tower than an sff.

M question is the the SG01 owners, is how do you find it for cooling. I'm planning on changing my opty165 to a 4300 (939 matx boards are hard to get hold of and 2 gig of decent DDR is over £100) to run along side my x1900xtx.

Just would like to know anyone with a similar setup (4300 / x1900) if they've experienced any problems, and if it's worth getting an after market cooler fot the gc

Thanks

That X1900XTX is going to kick up a bit of a fuss in that case, my X1950 is supposed to have a much better cooler but in shader heavy games it makes a right racket.

The processor seems to stay nice and cool though. I have the FX121 crossflow fan for the case but apart from that there's only the PSU fan near the CPU socket. I get high 30's idle and mid 50's load temps.

And I wouldn't worry about the size of the SG03. In practice it's like sitting your SG01e up on it's back - what you gain in height you certainly lose in footprint. After all, the SG03 still fits the Sugo Pack carry bag, and the SG01e is a pretty snug fit so it can't differ much in actual size.

Any more questions just shout. :)

That setup will be fine, i used to have a fx62 and a x1900xt in my sugo, tho the x1900 cards are very loud :s moving to a 8800 card there was a big drop in volume.
Its not worth changing the cooler on the graphics because nearly all the after market coolers dont vent the hot air out of the case and the 1's that do dont offer better temps :)

Thanks for the replies, think i'm going to stick with the SG01 though. As i don't play games at all anymore the noise of the x1900 shouldn't be a problem, if it does start to annoy me though i'll just down grade to a quieter card.

Only other question is what cooler does everyone run, i know theres the NT06 which seems to be the popular choice but is there anything better?

Thanks

you can mod some of the larger nt06 style coolers from thermalright etc but the nt06 is a quality cooler straight out of the box.

Let us know how you get on with the case mate. Pics etc would be great.

What version is it?
7000,7500 or 7700.

7000 something :s the 1 with the blue light, think theve stopped making it.

*Edit*
CNPS7000B-Cu LED

Had to buy a separate bracket for a few £'s in order to fit it to my mobo tho.

"To use this product on socket 775, ZM-CS1 must be purchased separately"

I have heard that the Zalman is audiable where as the Silverstone Heatsink does just as good a job at cooling but without the noise!

The CNPS8000 is totally silent. I'm sat about a foot from it and I can't hear it at all.

Great. Read a review where it said it makes a whining noise on the low setting!

Not mine it doesn't. I have my Sugo on the desk right next to me and normally the only noticable noise it makes is when the graphics card spins up.

If it was that bad anyway, i'd have ditched it. I can put up with the noise under the desk, but not right next to me! :p ;)

I am undecided about the SG01 or SG03. I don't have much desk space but the pc needs to go on the desk. It is imperative that it is almost silent!! What fans have you got in yours? Are they silent? What about the PSC? Hard drive quiet? Any advice would be great. Pics too? Thanks

Well the SG03 has the smaller "footprint" but it's taller. It's just like what I said, the volume of the two is pretty much identical, it's just that the SG03 is like the SG01 but it's been "upended".

I only have two fans in mine apart from the PSU. I don't bother with one on the HDD cage, and I took my FX121 crossflow fan out as well, as it was making a really nasty annoying rattling noise. The two above the graphics cards are 80mm Vantec Stealth fans, blowing down onto the graphics card, which exhausts out the back of the case.

Yes. I removed the fans that were noisy. Only the graphics card is audible at any point.

PSU? Totally silent. It's why I went for that model - it was recommended for it's silence and efficiency and it's certainly got both of those.

Well, sometimes. Raptors, you see, they get noisy when doing a random seek, but otherwise it doesn't really get noticed. I'd recommend not going for this drive if you want silence. The noise it makes is something I don't notice as i'm used to it.

Any other questions just ask. Digicam is broken so pics might be a bit of a problem.

Just finished my sugo build.

Spec is:

T2400
2gb OCZ
Asus board
x1900xt
FSP 400w

Sorry about mess.

Noise is'nt too bad but depends on psu etc really. Only real problem I can see is that the psu sits just above where cpu is so are limited to small heatsinks.
