On a nice late joining the thread note
I sold my old xbox box and it went for about a fiver and i clearly stated it was just the box.

Just write something along the lines of

"Boxed systems sell for more than unboxed ones and if your posting this will protect it properly etc

You dirty scamming scumbag <reply without actually reading

Fair enough <reply when paying attention

:p

Sigh, some of you lot are hilarious, especially Jeff Crawley.

I think the fact that this thread is still open and eBay haven't removed the auction tells you that what Tru has done is perfectly acceptable.

He has clearly stated its a box, and he hasn't listed it in the consoles section.

If someone has bought the box for £70, so be it. They obviously need/want the box desperately.

I think the bidder in Tru's auction is probably in cahoots with him, or it is another ebay account that Tru has. But it is ridiculous to suggest that anyone would choose to knowingly pay £70 for an empty cardboard box.

Well, are they aware its box they have purchased?

If so, who cares as to why they've paid so much, that is their business.

Well said, it is their business, no concern of anyone else.

Btw, I contacted the buyer to make sure they knew what they were getting.

To "legitimise" a stolen one?

almost a ridiculous as paying about £5 for a box of things you burn that will probably kill you...

maybe he has a box addiction?

:p

I think people are being way to harsh on Tru, he is scamming no one and shouldn't have to make it any clearer than he already has done to potential buyers as to what they're getting. Stupidy on this level should be punished, people know what to expect on ebay, and would be just plain crazy to bit on it without reading it properly.

I like it Tru, just a shame its caused such a ruckus, did you tell the friend who gave you the box how much you made? How did he react?

Yeah, either way Tru is a scammer - he has scammed us or an unlucky eBayer
Excactly, no matter what he said in the text, the thread title alone is enough for me, that together with a high reserve.

This has nothing to do with the fact someone has to be very stupid to fall for it, that is independent from the intention Tru had when placing the item hoping someone would fall for it and pay 70 quid for a cardboard box.

Have people still not clicked???!!!
As I said in my post, it doesn't matter (to me) what is in the actual text, the thread title alone is enough together with a high reserve.

And wasn't it changed as Ebay pulled the first one?

I've never known a heathen to have such strong Christian values.

I think perhaps Pickers is saying that Tru hasn't actually ripped anyone off, but the whole thread is just trolling (which is against the rules I think).

The thread title bore little resemblance to the auction title, if you read the thread before sticking your oar in you'd know this.

You'd also be aware that the first auction was pulled because I accepted cash payment. Ebay confirmed there was nothing wrong with the auction content.
