You don't get many people doing curls for bicep strength ;).

I've always wondered if HST is the wrong way round, surely it would be better to do a heavy phase, then a lighter phase, then a heavy phase again to produce the most muscle?
HST has limitless possibilties mate. You can for instance do your workouts like a wave scheme so...

15 reps
Light
Med
Heavy
Light
Med
Heavy

and then carry it on like that through the 10's and 5's. As you say you could even do the 15's, 5's, 10's, 5's inc negs. The original works very weel though :)

I've just finished a Chad Waterbury 10x3 (10 sets of 3 reps) and I'm telling you this would be immense for building muscle... very enjoyable way to train. Tough though as the rest times are very low (30-45 sec) and it gets brutal when near your limit. I was sweating like a freak at times!
 
quick question - for building muscle size+shape should i concentrate on high weight low rep or low weight high rep?

At this stage I'd go for a weight you can lift for 3sets of 8reps. Your main focus should be adding mass, any mass! ;) Worry about shape once you get to your target weight.

Anyway back on Topic for the OP.

Almost there on a big milestone, I've been cutting since the New Year when I was 15st 12lb.

Weighed in this morning @ *drumroll*.....

14st 8lbs :)

That's a loss of 18lbs in about 9 weeks. I'm going to keep it up unitil I hit 14 and half stone. I haven't been this light in a loooong time! Going to do some pics and measurements when I hit my goal.

I can't wait to start bulking! Not because of the food, I don't find it hard to diet but because I like to know I'm growing from all the hard slog in the gym :)

My plan now is to keep my weight between 200lbs-210lbs. Soon as I hit 15st I'll cut again and so on...

Ha-ha.

I'm a little skeptical and think I could possibly do with doing 2 sets to failure, but who knows. Some people get good results from it so I felt it's worth a try.

It's the complete opposite of HST, so I wanted to try it now :)

Thats how I normally train. startoff at something I can do 12 or so..then up till i can do about 5. Do the 5 rep twice. Allthough I have never gone the the extreme where i can do only 2 reps.....is this beter than doing the 5?
