For the videographers... the Movi.

That is amazing; I've never done any sort of video before - only photography - and any sort of steadycam device still just blows my mind.. The footage they get from it is incredible!

I don't think its that expensive when you consider the market they are aiming for. Given how many feature films now use DSLRs for working in tight environments, something which is small and gives great stabilisation is not much of an outlay, its a no brainer.

If you are somebody who shoots and edits yourself, then yeah, its a large cost if you aren't turning over the profit to warrant the expense.

The MoVi device is a little bit of an anti climax from when it was announced a few days ago by Vincent Laforet as a game changer.. It really isn't.

$15k is excessive since I can do all of those moves using my Stedicam rig... The skating shot is cool, but Vinny Minton owned those shots back in 2010 using a Glidecam HD2000 and an mk2...

Seen it, done it...*

It's a cool device for sure, but I would not give up my Steadicam for it as I can use it all day long with no strain, while my camera sits happily perched on the mechanical arm.. I should imagine this will be very tiring after a short time..in fact, I know it will be.

What other rigs offer the same dual controller setup? I was under the impression that this was the USP of the Movi, you have the camera operator controlling remotely whilst the rig operator gets on with what he has to do without worrying at all about all that and just getting on with not tripping over anything :D

Not a Movi, but hell why not:
