Hi all,

I'm off to paris in April and ofc going to take the camera :D

Anyone have any tips ?

My kit is

Canon 400D
Kit lens
50mm
Sigma 7-300 telephoto
Tripod

Only issue is that if i take all of my gear its going to be far too much to carry
I wanted to try and capture the Efiel Tower from top to bottom but dont have a wide angle lens etc. & for sure want to try and capture something at night too.

Dont carry a tripod, you want to travel as light as you can. My suggestion Gareth, only take your 50mm to learn how utilise composition effectively.

personally I wished I'd brought a tripod for things like this to do long exposure...

not that you could get this shot without a pretty wide angle lens!

Thanks guys i shall travel light and take the 50mm & kit lens :) & just hope i dont miss the telephoto hehe :)

Wow that is great! if i was to get a wide or super-wide for this trip can anyone spec me some?

When I had a 450D I used a Sigma 10-20. I thought it was pretty good and not too expensive second hand (about £225 I think I paid for it).

I took a 400D Sigma 17-70, Canon 70-300 IS USM and a Gorilla Pod.
Taking a tripod during the day is pain, however at night their are not so many people milling around.
Also check out Les Invalides is the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte.
The place is just amazing !

For landscape shots and city scapes :o 10-20 is way out of my price budget £200 max
