We should make tips on getting a Wii if you haven't preordered one thread. Good job I didn't use that has the title. :D I remeber going in Tesco extra on the 360 release and noticed they had had some in and clearly had sold out of them straight away. Seen as Tesco Extra didn't take preorders but had them in gots me thinking that going to Tesco Extra just before midnight maybe your best bet that I know of for a place to buy a Wii on the 8th if like I've said haven't preorderedi.

(Thankfully I did preorder at gamestation I'm 47th at my nearest store. I think that maybe good enought to get it on the 8th)

Anyway anyone else have any tips for folks?

I'm not too worried, I plan on getting one after Xmas and I'm pretty certain I'll be able to walk into most shops and pick one up.

I'm in the same boat, I wanna try it out first (note to Nintendo, put some demo units in shops!!!) and nothing in the launch line-up is a must have for me. Hopefully a few weeks after Christmas they will be fairly easy to pick up.

Id be very suprised if you couldnt just walk in to a store and pick one up launch day. Saying that though, how many did they make, and have they had any issues in the manufacturing?

They've made about 4 million in total and aren't having any real problems making more.

As for walking in to a shop and getting one. Well the popular games shops all have lots of pre-orders and will probably struggle to supply them all before the end of the year. Less obvious places though will probably have some on release day for walk in customers, but I'd expect these to be sold out once people start spreading the word about them having stock.
If I remember right, shops are then expecting one more delivery before X-Mas, enough to fill a few more pre-orders but probably still not enough.
