For those waiting for Oblivion

Looks completely rubbish. Hope Oblivion looks nothing like it.

What on earth is with the crap draw distance ? The grass does not show about 50 yards away.

Awful.

After looking at that demo and comparing with the released screenshots and previews in real time of oblivion ive got to say i dont think we have anything to worry about.

I do remember that in one of the interviews that the terrain is very detailed when you step out of a city or cave / dungeon but then after about 50 yrds it decreases in detail. But apparently this isn't a problem and still looks great

Check out the chapter 2 video on this page

elderscrolls.com featuring the forests in real time....Worth a look if you haven't seen it ;)

T he speed tree demo wasnt supposed to look brilliant graphically, it used a cheap engine to do its demo (if I remember correctly), but the idea that they are pushing is the tree generation and the like and I think thats pretty good by itself.

it's like far cry in that respect, so i heard. (edit, i may have either misunderstood you or something i read.. i thought it was about 50 yards from the player not a dungon entrance ect).

animated trees too!

Elite was a game that used procedural programming and here's the future:

one hour long but a good movie, there is a trimmed down version but you miss much of what makes the game so special.

Since the thread title was general and not specific to SpeedTree, I thought I might add that you can go on the elder scrolls website and go to a link to listen to the music of Oblivion (and also Morrowind).

I purchased the two albums (Morrowind and Oblivion) yesterday night - they are protected by DRM - so I need to get the Direct Song company to reset my license count - nice tracks they are though :D
