I applied to become Half Swedish, because, Brexit. The bottom half, in case it matters.

So on my Swedish passport etc, it will eventually say Efour, Half Swedish Half/Embarrassed Englishman.
It suddenly occurred to me, do i have to say to the UK passport office I've done this and I'm keeping half my Britishness, the top half, for weak patriotic reasons?

I assume i do have to declare this on a new/future UK passport application or alike?
Any of you got similar?
Aware that GOV.UK will probably answer this in 3 or less clicks but i like typing.

So you half wish to extradite Assange for sexual misconduct and half wish that the pillock would go back to Oz and never return.:D

I wouldn't expect a passport to list your nationality as anything other than the country you have the passport for. The whole idea of dual nationality is you have two lots of full nationality, not half of one and half of the other :D

For context; I have an Icelandic passport and a British one, nationality on the Icelandic passport is Icelandic, nationality on the British passport is British.

Dual citizenship (also known as dual nationality) is allowed in the UK. This means you can be a British citizen and also a citizen of other countries.

You do not need to apply for dual citizenship. You can apply for foreign citizenship and keep your British citizenship.

Many countries do not accept dual citizenship. Check with the country’s consulate or embassy in the UK to find out about that country’s laws on dual nationality. (Sweden does)

Got dual British/Irish for my son. I highly suspect the Irish passport will be a lot more useful than the British one shortly...

I am a naturalised UK citizen. Says I am British in the passport and rightly so. They are some countries that also list ethnicity but this is not the norm and smells of xenophobia/racism a bit, hence we do not have that here in the UK.

Ok.

Sorry im so dumb.
Thanks :p

If you have kids make sure you get them the same opportunity.

My children although born here in the UK were entitled to French citizenship. On their French passports it states their country of birth as UK, but they are considered French citizens by the French authorities. On their British passports they are considered British citizens.

Just need the wife to pass her French exam and she'll be entitled to be a French citizen too. It will make moving around Europe much easier for us as we go there a lot.

Don't you need residency in France for x amount of time to get citizenship or is it purely through marriage?
I know in Ireland someone has to live there for 3 years or so before they are eligible.

Through marriage as long as she can pass the language exams (which she could do to be honest, but French grammar is a pain!). But I was born there so she's guaranteed citizenship if we were to move back there, but she still needs to pass her French test! They're quite snotty about that, which is fair enough.

Interesting. Even if someone is married to an Irish citizen they still need to live there for a few years and pay quite a large amount of money to get citizenship.

Yes my BIL is facing that at the moment (has lived there for 8+ years I think) and hasn't paid the outrageous bill yet for citizenship.
