Are we not allowed to use certain email addresses?

Ive always thought maybe to stop spammers, but surely you would get more signups if you allowed them, you can just ban and delete as appropriate...

just a general wondering..

How? I can make something like 30 with my domain, my mum has one, i have one, my sister has one.

how does that stop you from doing that?

people will get caught doing it and get kicked wont they..

Hmm, maybe it won't stop multi's then.

Maybe it's so users can be traced more easily? Your guess is as good as mine.

Good point dude, but a lot of forums are picky on what kind of email address's you use.

Warez sites are bad like that.

It's for several reasons.
1: Slows the spammers down - as it is we get a few almost every day that try to sign up, when we lost the banned list for a few days after the board upgrade that number went up considerably.
2: It helps discourage/slow down troublemakers a bit if they can't just sign up for 100th hotmail account of the day.
3: ....
4: It can be fun looking at some of the websites people use to register with.

It's not perfect, nothing is but it slows down problems a bit
