Hi all,

Posted a while back on this (how windows is failing to enter sleep mode on its own). Have tried lots of things from googling, but these damn PCs just won't reliably enter sleep mode.

Failing this, I'm wanting to 'force' sleep mode - ie if I click start>sleep it works fine, so I'm thinking I could set a schedule to do this, so at least overnight I've not got two PCs with six monitors on full whack...!

Any suggestions on best software/approach to achieve this?

None of this will work if you have a connected peripheral that doesn't honour s1 to S4 sleep States. Some modern USB c hub monitors do this. The fix is to set s1 to S4 sleep state values in local or group policy. Easy.

Erm..... Nope! Are these through bios driver or separate? Have latest bios, but never realised there was a chipset driver? Should this be in device manager and does windows not keep this up to date by default if so??

I don't mean to knock Win Updates but sometimes it isn't great. Just go to the AMD website, and check your chipset under drivers and support for AM4. Latest one was Nov '21 I think.

I'll happily knock Windows update - it is ****.

While some stuff might stop things going into sleep normally if manually clicking start->sleep works then it should also work forcing sleep via the command line and scheduled task as it is essentially doing the same thing.
