Force unleashed on PC

It's rubbish anyways tbh, played the demo on the 360, a bad hack n slash game with the force powers... Gfx, didn't look that new at all either, but of course that could be because of a bad tv...

No it's not coming to PC, and I'm pretty glad now as the demo was a pretty mediocre button-mashing affair.

Been looking forward to this game since early in the year and I think it's going to be a rental for me now, no point in paying £40 for a physics tech demo. So disappointing.

They blatantly know they can make a sub par game for the consoles and it will simply sell because it is Starwars, and that to make a game that will be liked on the PC it actually has to be good.

Jedi Knight Forever!

now I'm gutted, was hoping to test my new GTX280 card on it... the demos I saw very early this year looked pretty good lots off AA going on with HDR so it looked like it was a PC winner... gutted now.

“In this case, it just really wasn’t feasible. As much as I really understand everybody’s concerns and I really understand that people want to play the game on their platform of choice, the truth of it is, the way this game is designed, based around these physics, that are simulation based and very procedural, it would take a very powerful PC to pull them off. This is definitely stretching the Xbox and the PS3 really to the farthest they can go.”

This is according to Cameron Suey, the producer of the game. It's a sad day when current PCs can't even hold a candle to the all powerful PS2s and Wiis of this world.

what a load of crap ! they're saying my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz, 8Gb 8500 Ram, GTX280 and a spare 8800GTS for Physix is worse than a DS or Wii???

they couldnt be arsed and knew it would show how good PC's are if they did it. Look at Cyrsis, everyone knows it'll run crap in high res but you learn to live with it until HW moves on. I'm pretty sure ATI or Nvidia would have loved to back the game on their hardware especially with the new physix dirvers for the Nvidias

Right, for starters the Wii and PS2 versions aren't the same as those released on the PS3 + 360. The physics aspects have been largely removed and the graphics heavily toned down and the gameplay adjusted accordingly.

While i know the game would run brilliantly on most peoples on this forums PCs you have to consider something - the whole mechanic of this game is the physics. In crysis for example on the PC, you can turn down the physics complexity in order to increase performance and this has very little impact on the game. In The Force Unleashed the entire game is based around physics (on the PS3 and 360), so scaling the physics according to how powerful someones PC is would actually be a detriment to the gameplay. As i stated previously, 90% of the PC users here have computers that will decimate the PS3 and 360, but that isn't the case with the average consumer, i would go as far as saying 50% of people, possibly less, have computers with CPUs as capable as those found in the PS3 + 360. I can see what they're trying to say tbh, but they worded it very poorly, you most certainly don't need a $5000 PC as they stated but you will probably need at least a dual core PC; something a lot of my friends who play games on their PC lack.

It's also probably got quite a bit to do with losses through piracy on the PC i would hazard a guess at. But i'm sure everyone knew that already. :)

Oh and, it's no loss to PC gamers, it kinda sucks.

Very weak child's game. Feels like you're hitting people with a bit of wood as opposed to a lightsabre. That and the whole franchise is a joke.

Another dev jumping on the piracy bandwagon and abandoning the PC.

I was furious when I originally found out this wasn't being developed for the PC although after playing through a couple of hours of it last night I can safely say that we're not missing much. I can't see it having been able to translate to any PC based multiplayer either, without it turning into something like the force equivilant of COD4 nade spamming.

Quite simply...this is poor man's Jedi Knight and I'm not bothered that it's going to bypass the pc now.

Been playing the PS3 version last few days and the game would seriously disappoint on the PC anyway.

Gameplay is similar to Devil May Cry4 & Soul Calibre4 just hack n slash but with force powers and upgrades to manage.

Jedi Outcast is still a much better game by far.

One good thing about The Force Unleashed is that the animated backgrounds are tremendous in places probably the best yet seen in any videogame. The graphics design & textures are also very good but as the game has been in development for over 4 years not surprising really. As to the physics they are nothing that the PC could not handle anyway only difference is the random way things happen when you throw them so no big deal.

PC could easily handle this game but would not sell very well as it is just a lite version of Jedi Outcast but with improved graphics.

What difference does it make? Are people going to start moaning that Motorstorm isn't out on the PC, or Tekken, Gran Turismo or the countless other console only games? PC could handle them fine, just as an average PC could handle Force Unleashed fine.

I suspect they don't want to develop for the PC due to piracy, and I'm sure they will make plenty of money from the platforms it is available on anyway - regardless of how good/bad it is compared to Jedi Knight, etc.

I think it's their bull**** excuse that's bugging people, as opposed to the fact we're not getting it.
