Force Youtube to preload videos?

I'm not sure on the best 'term' to use, if it should be buffer or cache or load, but when I click a youtube link I want youtube (browsing in Chrome) to load the whole video, not just to start when I click on play.

I'm think it's just a crappy ISP problem I have here, but youtube videos are often so slow, and only seem to load whilst the video is actually playing, sometimes it'll load just fast enough to be able to watch it smoothly, otherwise I have to ride the play/pause button just to watch a 5 minute clip/demo of something.

Arg, mini rant, that or is Firefox going to give better results?

Probably best to ask Youtube it, but the chances of them doing it is pretty low.

As for the slow loading, it happens to me as well even on a 44mb connection. 360p/480p loads slow but when I select 720p/1080p it loads faster. Might be just the way Youtube handles handwidth for different streams.

It's YouTube's flash player that does the smart buffering so you'd have to either get them to replace it or make your own and replace it with some browser script/greasemonkey type thing.

It works better in Firefox, that might just be my workaround, Youtube is notoriously bad in Korea though, can be ok for months then it'll die for 1-2 weeks and then slowly come back again, it blows. But appreciate the input!

I rip Youtube videos directly from the page and download locally using Jdownloader and it's integrated Link grabber.

Stream performance is TERRIBLE for me even on a solid 20MBit line. Using Jdownloader I can download the entire file and max out my bandwidth. Can play, track, pause and replay without any issues just as with any other locally stored file.

If entire websites dedicated to ripping the audio out of or making the entire video available as a direct download get away with it I think I, as a single user, will be fine.

But they aren't getting away with it any more. I read that Google is starting to ask them to take down their sites. YouTube-MP3.org, received a cease-and-desist letter from Google.

Evidently not

I would also recommend looking up the difference between civil and criminal offences.
